The Kutis 02/03 U12 boys team battled the heat and came out on top in their first tournament of the fall – the 2014 NORCO Invitational. With high temps and heat indices in the triple digits, conditions were uncomfortable to say the least. But in their first tournament playing 11 v 11, Kutis found the added space and larger field to their liking. They opened up with a 5-1 victory over Kirkwood United SC on Friday night. They followed up with an 8-1 victory over the St. Louis Prospects Saturday at noon. That set up a showdown with Missouri Rush who had also won their first two contests. After yielding a goal in the first five minutes, Kutis battled and drew even shortly before halftime. In a game of wills, Kutis came out firing in the second half and added a couple more tallies. Strong play from goalie Aidan McNamee helped to secure the 3-1 victory. Newcomers Spike Kohlbecker, Jeremy Schroeder, and Jack Wagnaar accounted for a good portion of the offense this weekend and have meshed well with returning players Jacob Backsmann, Tommy Betzold, Blake Corona, Peyton Eskew, Jacob Frost, Connor Hjorth, Cameron Kissel, Aidan McNamee, Mike Migneco, Nate Poelzl, Chase Schutzenhofer, and Nick Sights.
